Another One Bites The Dust

Well ladies and gentlemen, that’s it. Another year gone... Today I turned 20 years young (happy birthday to me), and it couldn't have come at a better time.

What a week! Here at St Lawrence College in the IMC program we had one big test, and about five major projects due in the same week. And thank goodness its over! Pulling a few all-nighters, saying no to a few outings with friends because there's was a paper due in the morning and I had not even started. Yeah that was one hell of a week. It defiantly showed me that my terrible habit of procrastination has got to go! And soon!

"What can I do with 1 massive hangover, 2 unwritten pages of homework, and 3 hours till they are due..."

That was the first thing that I posted today as my Facebook status. And you know what, I got them handed in on time. But that is defiantly the last time I leave homework till the last minute.

Procrastination: the putting off or delaying of an action to a later time.

There is a great article I found about taking my procrastination and mastering it in a positive way. It got me to thinking, what if I could get a handle on my own habit...

And so the challenge begins. Starting today it’s a new slate. As you all as my witnesses, I Sydne Smythe, am challenging myself with becoming a master of procrastination (in the positive way of course).

So here is to the next 20 years, and to the challenge.

[✓] In a relationship

It was not what most people would call "love at first sight". It was crowded and loud. I was surprised to even be able to hear myself think. There was so much happening at once I could barely finish one thought before being bombarded by another. But it’s exactly what I've been looking for.

Integrated Marketing Communications, you are my soul mate. We have been dating for six weeks and I'm in love with you. I know it's soon, but I can't help it. You've got me hooked. It's your style, and your ability to keep me on my toes. Constantly surging new ideas into my young and inexperienced mind. Ideas! Ideas! Ideas!

Don't marry just one idea.

The marketing world is my canvas, my ideas the paint, and you IMC as my brush. This is not the traditional work of art we see in museums. For my paint never dries. Layers and layers of paint, our canvas is always expanding. This is what makes us work together. My ideas are my own opportunity.

So now that you know how I feel will you take me with you, your arms open wide ready to embrace what I have to offer? Together we can create the opportunities that will change us. This is it. I'm ready for this love to carry me to great heights.

You and I are the perfect match.

Here, have an Apple.

This weeks post isn't about school. It's not about my classes, or the latest drama in my life. This week it's all about Apple, and the man with a vision to change the world of technology.

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind the important gateways to my social life, and the co-founder of Apple. His step down was a shock to many people. His death, is shocking the world. Whats the future of Apple without him?

My Prediction: Apples sales will increase. Why? When Steve stepped down from Apple, it was all over the news for a few days. His death, I'm guessing, is a bit bigger than that. Not to mention that if you type in www.apple.com... BAM! Steve's face is all you're gonna see. No ads about the newest products coming out. Nothing, just the man himself. And the whole world has sympathy for Apple.

Sympathy sells. You cold be selling anything. A lie. A product. Even yourself.

Rest in peace Steve Jobs.
You wanted to change the world, and you did.
